A-1 Service Group will be at the Construction & Demolition Recycling Association's 11th Shingle Recycling Forum, October 13 to 15, 2026, at the Marriott Raleigh City Center (500 Fayetteville St., Raleigh, NC 27601). The forum brings roofing contractors, distributors, recyclers, asphalt plant operators, paving companies and state transportation officials together to work on practical ways to recover roofing waste and grow asphalt shingle recycling.
We'll have a booth at the forum, with vendor displays open throughout the day. On Thursday, October 15, we're co-hosting the site tour in Clayton with Barnhill Contracting, where attendees can see shingle grinding up close.

John Phillips on the opening panel
On Wednesday, October 14, from 9:10 to 10:00 AM, John joins the forum's opening panel, “Recycled Asphalt Shingle End Markets: Leading Voices in Policy, Industry & Materials Processing.” Moderated by John Thomas of Waste & Recycling Solutions, it covers how recycled shingles are being worked into state transportation specifications, hot mix asphalt plants and new products, and includes a look ahead at the tour at Barnhill Contracting and A-1 Service Group in Clayton.
Why shingle recycling matters
According to Dan Horton of ASR Systems, speaking ahead of the forum, 15 to 18 million tons of roofing waste go to landfills, and about a fifth of that is asphalt that still has value. Ground to the right size, old shingles go back into paving material instead of taking up landfill space. A-1 runs its own crushing and grinding fleet across North Carolina, so we see both sides: what it costs to bury material, and what it's worth when it's recycled.
About CDRA
