Demolition Under Way at the Former Lexington Post Office

A-1 Service Group is handling the asbestos abatement and demolition of the former post office in downtown Lexington for Davidson County. The single-story building, with its arched concrete front, sits next to the LNC City Centre building.

Asbestos abatement comes first

The building has asbestos throughout, including the old pipe insulation in the mechanical room. Our own licensed and certified abatement crew is removing it before the building comes down, so the county has one contractor for the abatement, the demolition and the dumpsters.

Where the job stands

Alongside the abatement, our crew is stripping the inside of the building. Debris is going out in our own 30-yard roll-off dumpsters, staged at the old loading dock so the crew can load straight from the building.

What comes next

Once the inside is cleared, the building comes down and the lot gets cleaned up. We will add photos here as the job moves along, including the cleared lot at the end.
